Castleton Chiropractic Clinic offers an effective spinal rehabilitation program for conditions of the lumbar spine, with focus on chronic and severe cases. The program consists of FDA approved non-surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy. The physicians at Castleton Chiropractic Clinic are dedicated to providing you with this state-of-the-art therapy and options for relief and cure of your chronic and severe back pain.
WHAT IS NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY? Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is a scientific discovery for people with low back pain including severe and chronic cases. This medical breakthrough works without the need for drugs or surgery. The therapy is focused on decompressing the discs to reverse high amounts of pressure built up in the discs to take the pressure off of the nerves.
When a disc is "decompressed," negative pressure is created within the disc which allows for the re-introduction of water, oxygen and nutrients into the disc which heals the disc from the inside out. Decompression decreases the pressure within a damaged disc allowing the disc to rehydrate which restores the normal height to the disc and reduces the irritation associated with the damaged disc.
HOW IS IT DONE? The procedure is painless and has been structured with patient comfort in mind. Patients are fitted with unique chest and lumbar harnesses and then step onto the loading platform where they are reclined to the supine position. The harnesses are connected to both the end of the table and to the control tower respectively. A special air bladder located in the lumbar belt is inflated creating a fulcrum that focuses treatment to the specific lumbar disc level that is desired (L1 to L5). The lower pelvic belt is attached to the control tower, which is elevated 0 to 30 degrees above the patient. The procedure alternates angle of pull intervals of 60 seconds of decompression with 30-second intervals of partial relaxation. The entire procedure, including set up time, takes approximately 30 minutes per session. Decompression is achieved throughout the process creating up to 200 mm of negative intradiscuclar pressure retracting the herniation and healing the damaged area. To relax the patient and promote healing, patients can listen to music or read. Some patients become so relaxed that they doze off for a quick nap.
WHAT IS THE PATIENT INCLUSION CRITERIA (diagnosis)? The Spinal Decompression tables are designed to provide static, intermittent and cycling distraction forces to relieve pressures on structures that may be causing low back pain. Specific indications will include: chronic low back pain, disc herniation, disc bulge, sciatica, degenerative joint disease, acute lumbosacral strain/sprain, osteoarthritis, mild spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, IVF, facet syndrome disc rupture, extrusion and some failed back surgeries.
WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF SUCCESS? The American Journal of Pain Management reports an 86% chance of success for patients suffering from herniated intervertebral discs. MRI studies prove Spinal Decompression helps more than 8 out of 10 people - often with no need to undergo painful and expensive surgery. People scheduled for surgery, or worse, people who have had unsuccessful surgeries, are getting help with this non-surgical, non-invasive treatment.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT? Most patients are scheduled for 20 minute treatments over a 4-5 week period. Most see relief as fast as the first 6 treatments. Pre and Post treatment MRIs have shown 50% reduction in the size and extent of herniations after 4 weeks of treatments.
DOES THE TREATMENT OFFER A PERMANENT RELIEF? Our approach is to bring you long lasting relief and not have to return to us. In some severe cases, we may recommend periodic follow-up maintenance.
If you have tried everything and are still having pain, Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy may be the answer you are looking for.
